National Historical Park at northern

trailhead—was site of first battle of

Mexican-American War in 1846

The 2.3-miles-and-growing Eastside Trail—part of the

Atlanta BeltLine—stretches from Piedmont Park to Inman

Park, a half mile from the Martin Luther King Jr. National

Historic Site. Included are King’s boyhood home; his final

resting place with late wife Coretta Scott King; and Ebene-

zer Baptist Church, where he and his father preached.

EASTSIDE TRAIL – ATLANTA BELTLINE

This V-shaped trail’s western prong runs south from

Frenchtown toward Trenton and past Washington

Crossing Historic Park, where Gen. George Washington

led his troops across the icy Delaware River on Christ-

mas Day 1776 to beat the Hessians in Trenton.

Length: 69.5 miles

Surfaces: Crushed stone, gravel

Uses: Mountain biking, walking, horseback riding, fishing,

cross-country skiing; wheelchair accessible

New Jersey 

DELAWARE AND RARITAN (D&R) CANAL STATE PARK

Stretching from Long Beach to Ilwaco in Pacific County,

this trail follows part of the route of Meriwether Lewis

and William Clark’s famous Corps of Discovery Expedi-

tion 200 years ago. Along the path are several bronze

commemorative sculptures, as well as public art,

wildlife and breathtaking scenery.

Length: 8.3 miles

Surface: Asphalt

Uses: Biking, walking, inline skating; wheelchair accessible
