President Franklin Roosevelt called December 7, 1941,
“a date which will live in infamy.” Seven decades later,
our nation remembers the valor of those who lost their
lives that day in the bombing of Pearl Harbor. A series
of special events being held on the island of Oahu dur-
ing the frst week of December—a symposium, tribute
concerts, parades, documentary screenings, memorial
ceremonies and special boat tours—will mark the
70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day and honor the
country’s World War II veterans. Most events are free
and open to the public, but seating is limited and
reservations may be required. Te Pearl Harbor Bike
Path, a 10-mile rail-trail, takes you around much
of the harbor, providing views of the battleships in
the East Loch and ending near the World War II
Valor in the Pacifc National Monument. For more information
about the 70th anniversary events at Pearl Harbor, visit
