says. “Most folks here live with ‘their
back to the river.’ Having this type of
facility will open up the riverfront to
people of all types, getting them of their
couches and out of their cars to experi-
ence the river.”
Maxted says the project is still in
the early development and fundrais-
ing stages, and that working with the
railroad company is a delicate process.
“Te key to the project is that the city of
Memphis and Crittenden County own
the roadways on the bridge,” he says.
“We found the deeds from 1917.”
